Virginia general assembly public relations

Now that the 2022 General Assembly Session is complete, it’s a good opportunity to look back on our success.

For the last six years, we have been a go-to firm in Virginia for companies and associations that are either supporting legislation and working to get it passed, or fighting legislation. We should note that we are not lobbyists, but we support lobbying teams, firms and in-house legislative teams.

Our work consists of placing op-eds and letters to the editor on behalf of our clients, getting stories placed to bring attention to important legislative initiatives, and drafting letter templates, newsletter articles, and social media posts. In addition, we often provide overall strategy for getting legislation in the public’s eye.

In this year’s session, we were able to help two clients defeat legislation that could have been damaging to their businesses, members or constituents. We were also successful in getting three other pieces of legislation passed and signed by the governor. In full transparency, there was one piece of legislation that did not get approved. However, we were able to strategize with the lobbying team on an effort to have the bill die before a final vote so that the legislation could be reworked and submitted again in 2023.

If your business, organization, or association anticipates needing legislative support in 2023, now is the time to start a conversation with us. Don’t wait until December as it will likely be too late to get the proper pieces in place.
